1. Who We Are
PetsGo is a UAE-first pet community app. In this policy, "PetsGo", "we", "us", and "our" mean the PetsGo team responsible for the app, website, and related services.

2. Data We Collect
We collect data you provide, data created when you use the app, and limited technical data needed to run the service.
- Account data, such as your name, email address, profile photo, phone number, city, nationality, account status, and notification settings.
- Pet profile data, such as pet name, species, breed, date of birth, microchip ID, colour, weight, registration details, and pet photos.
- Health and care data, such as vaccines, vet visits, medication, food logs, weight logs, notes, attachments, schedules, reminders, and municipality renewal reminders.
- Community content, such as posts, comments, Lost & Found alerts, sightings, photos, reports, blocks, ratings, and directory suggestions.
- Location data you choose to add, such as a typed area, selected UAE location, or current location used to tag a post or Lost & Found alert. Public location coordinates are reduced in precision before they are stored for posts.
- Contact data for Lost & Found, such as a phone or WhatsApp number when you choose to make contact shortcuts available. This contact data is stored separately from the public post and is revealed through a protected app flow.
- Device and notification data, such as push tokens, installation identifiers, platform, and notification delivery status.
- Support and safety data, such as support requests, reports, moderation decisions, account deletion feedback, and messages needed to investigate abuse or safety issues.
- Product analytics events, such as sign-up, pet creation, health record creation, post creation, Lost & Found alert creation, and schedule completion events.
- Crash and diagnostic data if Sentry is enabled for the app release. Sentry is configured not to send default personal information.
3. How We Use Data
- To create and secure your account.
- To show your pet profiles, health records, care schedules, reminders, and notifications.
- To operate community posts, comments, Lost & Found alerts, sightings, reports, blocking, and moderation.
- To help nearby UAE pet owners discover vets, pet-friendly places, and local pet information.
- To send transactional emails such as welcome, verification, password reset, and support notifications.
- To protect PetsGo from spam, abuse, unsafe content, scraping, fraud, and security incidents.
- To understand basic product usage and improve reliability, performance, and user experience.
- To comply with legal, regulatory, store, tax, security, and enforcement obligations.
4. Third-Party Services
We use trusted service providers to operate PetsGo. These providers process data for us according to their own terms and privacy commitments.
- Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, Firestore database, Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Messaging, App Check, and related infrastructure.
- Google Maps Platform for maps, place lookup, directions, and place photos.
- Google Cloud Vision API for automated image safety checks on uploaded community images.
- Sentry for crash reporting and diagnostics when configured for the app release.
- Expo and EAS services for app builds, push-notification plumbing, updates, and device-related app services.
- Resend for transactional emails.
- Apple and Google sign-in services if you choose those sign-in methods.
We do not use PostHog, Amplitude, Segment, or a separate Expo Analytics SDK in the current PetsGo app.
5. Sharing
We do not sell personal data. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
We may share data in these limited cases:
- With service providers that help us run PetsGo.
- With other users when you post public community content, comments, ratings, Lost & Found alerts, or profile information meant to be public.
- With another user when you choose to reveal Lost & Found contact shortcuts.
- With authorities, regulators, or other parties when required by law, safety, fraud prevention, or legal process.
- As part of a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to reasonable confidentiality protections.
6. Public Community Content
Community posts, comments, Lost & Found posts, sightings, ratings, and directory suggestions may be visible to other users or to the PetsGo team for moderation and support. Do not post private addresses, documents, medical records, or contact details that you do not want others to see.
Lost & Found owner phone and WhatsApp details are not stored directly on public post records. If you enable contact shortcuts, contact details are stored in a private record and revealed only through an authenticated app action.
7. Storage, Security, and Retention
We use Firebase security rules, backend validation, storage rules, access controls, rate limits, and moderation tools to protect data. No system is perfect, but PetsGo is designed to protect user, pet, health, location, and community data by default.
We keep account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide PetsGo. Some logs, moderation records, security records, support records, backups, and non-identifying analytics may be kept for longer where needed for safety, legal, operational, or abuse-prevention reasons.
8. Account Deletion
You can request account deletion in the app from Edit Profile, Account closure, Delete account. Deletion starts a 30-day grace period. During this period, your account and posts are hidden and you can cancel deletion by logging back in and reactivating your account.
After the grace period, PetsGo permanently deletes or anonymises your account data, pet profiles, health records, schedules, photos, push tokens, notifications, reminders, public profile, and community footprint where technically possible. Some records may remain if we need them for legal, security, fraud-prevention, or safety reasons.
9. Your Choices and Rights
- You can update your profile and pet information in the app.
- You can choose whether to grant location and notification permissions through your device settings.
- You can delete or edit certain content in the app where supported.
- You can report content, block users, or contact support for safety and privacy issues.
- You can request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of personal data by contacting us.
PetsGo is built for the UAE and is designed with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law in mind. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights.
10. Children
PetsGo is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data to PetsGo without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
11. Changes
We may update this policy as PetsGo changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as in-app notice, email, or an updated notice on this page.
